Honicombe Manor lies on the Devon and Cornwall border in the Tamar Valley and on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park.

Centred on the Manor House, facilities include large indoor pool complex with sauna, solarium and fitness centre, conservatory restaurant and bar with family entertainment at peak periods.

There are tennis courts and an outdoor heated pool and terrace.

There are walking and cycling rides nearby. Professionally supervised outdoor pursuits including canoeing, climbing and abseiling can be organised.

The neighbouring village of Calstock has train and river cruises down the Tamar Valley to Plymouth. Park and ride, and enjoy a day exploring the National Maritime Aquarium,the waterside bars and restaurants as well as the other historical attractions of this famous nautical city.

Also close at hand is the Living Museum of Victorian Life at Morwellhan Quay, complete with carriage ride and train trip into the mine which provides another fun, informative day for all the family.

There are four holiday cottages available very close to Looe in Cornwall. Robert and Jean Henly with their two daughters took over Bucklawren Farm in 1987. They decided to offer farmhouse bed and breakfast accommodation, and in 1997 they won the prestigious West Country Tourist Board Farm Holiday Award.

Bucklawren became more and more popular thanks to its peaceful location and friendly welcome, and so more holiday cottage accommodation was needed. As with many West Country farms, some of Bucklawren’s old stone barns and stable blocks had become impractical for modern farming practices. Rather than allow these beautiful buildings to fall into disrepair, Robert and Jean decided to bring them new life and purpose by converting them so that holidaymakers could enjoy their very special historic atmosphere.

In 1991 they converted a former stable block into three self catering holiday cottages in Looe. This was followed by the conversion of a two storey barn into a spacious four bedroom holiday cottage (The Hayloft) and finally in 2000 the conversion of further barns into The Granary Restaurant and The Lodge cottage. The design and materials were carefully chosen to ensure sympathetic conversion and to faithfully retain the exterior and interior character of the lovely old buildings.

The Mill House, large luxury accommodation

The Mill House, opposite the owners’ house, offers reversed level accommodation with a wealth of character. The large, oak beamed sitting-room and the well-equipped kitchen and dining area, along with one bedroom and a shower-room are on the first floor. From the sitting-room, French doors open out onto a wooden deck with steps down to the enclosed lawned garden. Two further bedrooms and a spacious family bathroom complete the accommodation on the ground floor. Please note that the changeover times are 4pm on arrival and 10am on departure.

The Cart House, large luxury holiday cottage

The Cart House luxury holiday cottage in Looe , set across the courtyard from the owners’ house, has its own fully enclosed garden with seating areas. With one double bedroom upstairs and the rest of the accommodation on the ground floor, The Cart House includes an en suite double bedroom along with a twin room, a family bathroom, a well-equipped kitchen with dining area and a spacious sitting-room with a wood-burner and French doors.

Brambles – luxury holiday cottage, Looe in Cornwall

Brambles is a luxury holiday cottage with vaulted ceilings and exposed oak beams throughout the main accommodation. It has been newly renovated and is set across the courtyard from the owners’ house, with its own seating area. All accommodation is on one level (kitchen and bathroom accessed via one step). This property has one double bedroom along with a twin room, a family bathroom, a well-equipped kitchen and a spacious sitting-room with dining area. It also has a wood-burner and French doors which lead out to the seating area.
